Hemingfield Colliery

03 November 2014 on News by johnpaulwalker

For the past 6 weeks John-Paul has been mentoring a exciting project which brings together the Friends of Hemingfield Colliery Dern Valley Landscape Partnership and a group of student from Sheffield University School of Architecture in a project to decide the future of the redundant colliery.

This is part of the Live Projects programme, a pioneering educational initiative run by the school in which students work in groups with a range of clients including local community groups, charities, health organisations and regional authorities. In some cases the projects involve actual building, in others design of urban masterplans, in others consultation exercises. In every case, the project is real, happening in real time with real people.

To learn more about what the students have been doing visit their blog.

The results of this collaboration, and 14 other equally fascinating Live Project groups, will be presented this Friday (07/11/14) 09.45 - 18.00 at The Hallamshire Hospital, Lecture Theatre 2, Medical School, Beech Hill Road, S10 2RX.
