The repair and conversion of the early 18C Master Gunner’s House at Scarborough Castle (Grade I listed) to house a visitor facility including a café and exhibition spaces with improved intellectual and physical access. The site is situated on a very dramatic and exposed headland outcrop facing the North Sea. The project included extensive structural analysis and repair. The new staircase guard-rail was influenced by the harbour ironwork and the ropework carried out by local Scarborough Marine Engineers.
